Important Safety Warning – One Shot Stake Nuts

As experienced trailer service engineers ourselves, we regularly discover problems resulting from previous trailer servicing, including work carried out by supposedly reputable companies.

One Shot Stake Nuts are designed for single use only. Once removed, they MUST be replaced with new ones.

Reusing these nuts can compromise their locking effectiveness, potentially allowing the hub nut to loosen. Consequently, this may lead to excessive movement, damage to the wheel bearings or stub axle, and potentially dangerous wheel assembly failure.

Unfortunately, we have encountered instances where these essential components have not been replaced during previous servicing.

If your trailer has recently been serviced, ask your engineer whether new One Shot Stake Nuts were fitted wherever the original nuts were removed.

A professional trailer service should always follow the relevant axle manufacturer’s instructions. After all, your safety, your horses’ safety and that of other road users must come first.
